Our Fantastic Library!
With the help of our brilliant PTA, who contributed £5,000, and advice from Leeds School Library Service, our library had a complete makeover early in 2014. It is now stocked with a wide range of fiction, non-fiction and poetry with the aim of encouraging all our children to have a choice of books to read for their own pleasure and to see libraries as great places to be. As requested by the children, it also has cushions! An online cataloguing system helps us keep track of who is reading what.
Each class has its own weekly timetabled session when they can go to the library, and staff help children choose and change books.
From October to Easter Lunchtime Library Club is offered. In the hot weather, we are planning to read stories outside.
Our aims are to increase the range of reading material to include comics, magazines and newspapers; and to maximise the potential of the online catalogue - watch this space!

Get caught reading and end up on our website! On World Book Day everyone in school brought in a favourite book to share with someone in another class.
Welcome - have a look around.

To make decisions about the library we have a Library Council, comprised of two elected representatives from each year group from Y1 to Y6, who meet regularly with Mrs Mayo.
Reps consult with their classes and pass on ideas for how the library could be improved; collect suggestions for the types of book the library needs; help solve any problems in the running of the library; think up ideas for themes, competitions, activities, etc.
A small, but very dedicated, group of Year 6 pupils give their time to help with jobs around the library.
Leeds Book Awards
A group of Year 6 pupils have been reading and voting on the books shortlisted for Leeds Book Awards. This year's award ceremony is in May. Watch out for the winning book in the Library.
